Health Care Careers Initiative Program

ACAM is glad to support you in your healthcare career journey! In order to apply, you must be:

  • 18-24 years of age
  • Authorized to work in the US
  • Registered with Selective Service (male applicants only)
  • Have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Not enrolled in school
  • Must be unemployed or underemployed
  • Live in Brazoria, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Montgomery, or Waller County

What is “Underemployed?”

Underemployed is defined as a young adult who is working but not earning a self-sufficient wage, meaning their income is not enough to meet their family’s basic needs. Underemployment also includes situations where a person has limited hours, works in temporary or part-time roles, or is employed in a position that doesn’t match their skills, career goals, or provide the stability and advancement needed for long-term economic mobility.
