What is “Underemployed?”
Underemployed is defined as a young adult who is working but not earning a self-sufficient wage, meaning their income is not enough to meet their family’s basic needs. Underemployment also includes situations where a person has limited hours, works in temporary or part-time roles, or is employed in a position that doesn’t match their skills, career goals, or provide the stability and advancement needed for long-term economic mobility.
